Corner guards: compatible surfaces, cleaning and maintenance

Does a corner guard seem to stick well on one piece of furniture and less on another? That does not necessarily mean you did something wrong. The shape, cleanliness and finish of the surface can make the difference. Before adding more adhesive, stop and check the product instructions.

The finish matters as much as the material

Saying “wood” or “glass” is not enough to guarantee compatibility. A smooth finish, a fragile paint or a porous surface can behave differently. On uneven edges there may be less contact with the adhesive. Do not assume any surface is automatically suitable: check the product guidance.

Test delicate finishes first

If possible, test in a hidden spot following the instructions. Do not stick onto flaking paint or damaged surfaces. If you are unsure about the furniture or about removal, ask before going ahead: you can write to us at info@happychlea.com.

Clean without weakening the adhesive

Follow the care instructions of the product and the furniture. Avoid soaking the fixing point or using harsh cleaners. After cleaning, check that corner guards and edges are still firmly attached.

When a protector needs checking again

A lifted edge, a cut or a part that moves needs attention. Do not just hide the detachment: find the cause and restore the protection following the instructions (see also when a corner guard comes off), keeping removed pieces away from the child. A short regular check helps you use the products with more confidence.

Protectors help soften bumps against edges and corners. They do not remove every risk and do not replace adult supervision.
