How many corner guards and how many metres of edge protector do you need?
The question we get most often is “how much do I need?”. The answer starts from two numbers: the metres of edge to cover and the number of corners.
1. Measure the edges
With a tape measure, measure only the stretches your child can reach and you want to protect: the edge of the living-room coffee table, the top of a low unit, a shelf. Note each stretch and add up the metres. Allow a small margin for cuts.
2. Count the corners
A rectangular table has 4 corners, a unit with a top and a base may have 8. Count every corner you want to cover, including those on stretches you have already counted as edge: corner guards go exactly there.
3. Compare with the formats
A worked example
A living-room coffee table of 1.1 × 0.6 m (3.4 m perimeter, 4 corners) and a low unit with a 1.5 m edge and 4 corners. Total: about 4.9 m of edge and 8 corners. The 6.4 metre kit (5.6 m roll and 8 corner guards) covers these measurements. If you only needed the corners of three units (12 corners), a set of 20 would be enough.
